  • Group Description: Power Sonic PSH series of high-rate sealed lead acid batteries have been designed and engineered specifically for high-rate discharge UPS applications. The high-rate battery series have been constructed to ensure constant, dependable power when used as battery backup or as part of an uninterruptible power supply system. Unlike more general applications UPS systems require a battery with a higher rate of discharge for a shorter amount of time, making the PSH series an ideal choice. A UPS is used as backup power for critical electrical equipment in case the power supply is interrupted or cut off, in the event that this happens the UPS will kick in allowing the electrical equipment to continue to be used for a set period of time. This means a battery with a higher rate of discharge would be required to get the best out of your UPS. If a UPS was fitted with a standard sealed lead acid battery instead of a high-rate battery when the UPS kicks in the electrical equipment that it is now powering will discharge the battery at a much higher rate than what the battery was designed for. This could damage the battery and cause issues with recharging. General purpose and deep cycle AGM batteries are designed to discharge at a much slower rate, this is why it is vital that you choose a high-rate battery, like our PSH series, for your UPS application. Each 6V and 12V high-rate battery in our PSH series has a flame retardant case and cover approved to UL94:V0 standards. We have a wide range of batteries designed to provide high performance in float and high-rate discharge applications. With nearly 50 years extensive experience with developing and supplying batteries in a variety of applications from UPS to fire protection systems, our team of application experts can provide the right battery technology from our comprehensive portfolio to meet your technical demands.
  • Product Description: The PSH-655 FR is part of our Rechargeable Sealed Lead Acid Battery range of PSH Series often referred to as SLA or VRLA (Valve Regulated Lead Acid) are designed for high-rate discharge applications. The 6V 4.5A high-rate battery is designed with an impact resistant ABS case that is flame retardant to UL94. All Power-Sonic batteries are subject to stringent quality controls through each step of the manufacturing process to ensure consistency and reliability.
  • Charging Description: Cycle Applications: Apply constant voltage charge at 2.35VPC – 2.45VPC (14.1 to 14.7 volts for 12V Monobloc) at 20°C. The initial charging current should be set at less than C/5 Amps. Switch to float charge when the current falls to a 3% capacity rate to avoid overcharging. Stand-By or "Float" Service: Apply constant voltage charge of 2.25VPC – 2.30VPC (13.5 to 13.8 volts for 12V Monobloc) at 20°C. When held at this voltage, the battery will seek its own current level and maintain itself in a fully charged condition. Temperature Compensation: Charging voltage for both cyclic and stand-by applications should be regulated in relation to ambient temperature. As temperature rises, charging voltage should be reduced to prevent overcharge and increased as the temperature falls to avoid undercharge. For further charging information, including temperature compensation factors, see the Power-Sonic Technical Manual.
